A poker tournament is an interesting game in which a different types of poker is played. The aim is to eliminate your opponents and to win their chips.
Poker tournaments are structured so that each poker player starts the game simultaneously, with the same wagering limit and amount of chips. The betting limits increase at a predetermined step.
When one of the poker players bets his last chip and loses that hand, he or she is eliminated.
Tables are combined as players are eliminated, until only one table remains, which is referred to as the “final table.”
Play continues until one poker player wins all of the tournament chips and he is declared the “champion”.
Each poker tournament is a unique competition and requires a fee for participation. The fee is allocated in two ways:
1. The buy-in portion goes to the prize pool
2. The entry fee is the amount charged by the house to stage the event and is not included in the prize pool.
You have to know that each poker tournament has a minimum of five places paid and as many as 36 places paid in each event. The number of places depends on the number of entries and the type of game being played. The value of individual prizes depends on the buy-in portion from each entry plus any added money. In events that feature rebuys and/or add-ons, 100 percent of these purchases go into the prize pool.
When you play in Single Table Tournament:
1.Be careful of playing aggressively on suited connectors, because value is lower than expected since people are going to be short stacked, so if you still decide to call, only do so at the beginning of the poker tournament.
2.Pay close attention and keep track of the poker players you’re competing against since you may run into them again if you continue playing single table tournaments with the same buy-in.
When you play in Multi Table Tournament:
1.In the case you are short stacked and it’s already much later on in the poker tournament, consider going all in pre-flop to try and steal the blinds even if your hand isn’t looking so great.
2.These poker tournaments are long and last usually a lot of time, so you must be prepared for a full-day event and pace yourself. We recommend you to make your bets wisely.
